Very informative. I have been wanting a dog for a while and in the past years, I have done some research to prepare myself. I guess I focused more on training than analyzing canine behavior although I did memorize the tail-wagging motions and what they mean, if that means anything; but anyway, this was good to read. I was told two things: that you were supposed to let the dog sniff your hand and you were supposed to let them decide. I never really came around to find out which was correct. I just gave dogs space which I guess was right. However, now I know and am one stop closer to adopting a dog! Thank you for posting this…
